Guinea Pig safe food list

I did some googling and compiled the list of safe foods for Billy to eat. As well as how often and how much to feed him. And because my house is a stalled building project, I'm writing it out here, and bookmarking it then I don't need to worry about losing my list!

UNLIMITED AMOUNTS DAILY:
  • Hay - not Alfafa, not dusty, sweet smelling. For eating and for bedding. (I got mine from B&M Bargains I think it was a pound for a kilo). B&M Meadow Hay Timothy hay is supposed to be the best.
  • Grass - I've lots of this! I'm hoping he will eat so much we won't need to mow the lawn! (a patch of wheat grass if they are indoors works apparently)
  • Dandelions - I have lots of this in the lawn. The rescue lady said some say it's a diuretic, but unlimited amounts are fine.
  • Water - clean water. I have both a bowl and a water bottle for him.
PLUS - HAY PELLETS - SEE back of packet for feeding guidelines. Should be made ONLY of hay.

ALSO
FOR HEALTHY TEETH FOR GNAWING - Wood twigs - I have an apple tree so that's what he'll be getting, or willow sticks (not white willow because of salycic acid) from the pet shop.

FOR VARIETY - Petals of roses, nasturtiums, courgette and sprouted peas and radish seeds.

Oof! a long list, but as I myself eat all the things on it, and like a variety, it won't be hard to just remember to chop a small portion off for him each day.  I have many of these in the garden already, or seeds ready to sow, so we should be good!
